FAQ's
Q: What are Southern Dust Control products and what are their uses?
A. All Southern Dust Control products are environmentally friendly and they are used for all types of soil stabilization and dust control.
Q: What is 'Soil Stabilization'?
A: Very simply, soil stabilization is control of the soil at the surface to prevent the problems related to the soil being inherently unstable. The range of soil stabilization projects go from controlling dust, mud, or erosion to the construction of a driving surface capable of heavy vehicle traffic.
Southern Dust Control Polymer Emulsions are the solution to all of these requirements.
Q: Can Southern Dust Control polymer be used in place of bonded fiber matrix?
A: PX1000 polymer can be used to create a superior strength bonded fiber matrix by applying
PX1000 with any fiber type (straw, wood fiber, paper fiber, gypsum, etc) and it works well to "glue" mulch to extremely steep embankments.
Q: Tackifiers used in Hydroseeding don't seem to stand up to heavy rains, can
Southern Dust Control help?
A: Southern Dust Control polymer emulsion used in place of regular tackifier increases germination rate, decreases germination time, and completely eliminates washouts.
PX1000 tackifier does not soften and gel as do most conventional tackifiers.
PX1000 tackifier is unaffected by even the heaviest rain event.
Q: Terraseeding seems to be problematic during hot, dry times, how might
Southern Dust Control help?
A: Southern Dust Control applied to a terraseed application will help hold in moisture thereby increasing germination and preventing degeneration of the sprouts thus allowing successful terraseed jobs even in midsummer conditions. Also the
Southern Dust Control will permit terraseeding on very steep slopes by preventing stromwater run-off from eroding the application.
Q: Can Southern Dust Control be used in Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)?
A: The proper use of Southern Dust Control should be considered Best Management Practice (BMP) in all SWPPP proposals.
PX1000 will eliminate Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in stormwater run-off.
Southern Dust Control will prevent siltation of wetlands, prevent sedimentation of drainage swales and drainage structures and prevent siltfence from becoming overwhelmed.
Q: What about a proactive approach to environmental issues on construction sites?
A: Southern Dust Control is one of the best ways to show the regulatory agencies and conservation commissions that you are serious about environmental issues on the site. All developers and excavating contractors know that a disturbed site will produce sediment and siltation so they use siltfence and haybales to catch the "fines" as they move with the run-off (a reactive approach).
PX1000 prevents the fines from moving in the first place offering a proactive approach.
Q: What is the best product for dust control?
A: In non-traffic areas and stockpiles
Southern Dust Control Light polymer emulsion is a great value, very effective for long or short term and very inexpensive. For areas subjected to very heavy or high volume traffic areas
DX1000 works extremely well controlling dust with no need to water or add chlorides.
DX1000 can last for up top one year with only a single application.
Q: What is the best product to control dust in an equestrian riding arena?
A: DX1000 is a very highly refined, pure, organic liquid that is capable of controlling dust under the extreme conditions of running and jumping horses.
DX1000 has the added benefit of conditioning the arena footing to ensure consistent "feel" without soft spots, or slippery spots.
DX1000 eliminates the need for water and lasts for 9 - 15 months with only one application.
DX1000 never freezes, and never dries out.
Q: Can Southern Dust Control products be stored in below freezing temperatures?
A: DX1000 are can be stored indefinitely at almost any temperature, they never freeze.
Southern Dust Control Polymer Emulsion should be stored and applied at above freezing temperatures.
Q: What is the cleanup procedure for Southern
Dust Control products?
A: For Southern Dust Control polymers, application equipment can be cleaned by thoroughly rinsing with water after use. For
DX1000 use soap and water.
Q: For pothole repair what product is recommended?
A: PotHoleGlue makes a pothole repair that is stronger than the surrounding asphalt. Unlike other pothole patching systems, PotHoleGlue does not use petroleum products but rather a unique catalytic reaction that creates an epoxy-like, super tough repair that outlasts the surrounding pavement.
Q: What effects will cold weather have on
Southern Dust Control products?
A: Cold weather has no adverse effects on any
Southern Dust Control products. DX1000, and DX1000 may be applied at any temperature and never freeze.
PX1000 polymer and PotHoleGlue should be applied when the temperature is above freezing but once cured cold has no effect on the applications.
Q: What is the cost of Southern Dust Control products?
A: All Southern Dust Control products are competitive products at competitive prices. These products offer high value and good cost effectiveness. Contact us to discuss pricing for your application requirements
